About Us

HSS Global Trading FZCO (HSS) is a constituted company that is incorporated in the Dubai CommerCity area in Dubai, UAE. Our primary business objectives are the purchase of all types of vessels from ship owners on both a ‘delivered' basis and ‘as is where is' basis for resale to ship recycling yards on the Indian Sub Continent.

HSS maintains the highest standards of transactional performance, business ethics and integrity to support and secure repeat business from ship owners. HSS's corporate credibility with the market’s industry service providers and participants is of paramount importance to us and philosophy is one of 'doing things right'.

HSS is solely owned and managed by Mr Arafat Kaliwala.

HSS's primary focus is to procure vessels for sales to recycling yards mainly in India, however, the company also considers vessels for sales to recycling yards in Pakistan and Bangladesh when appropriate opportunities arise considering prevailing destination pricing, geographical vessel location and vessel type demand.

HSS has vessel sales trading options with numerous ship recycling yards in Alang, India. These associations enables HSS to procure selective vessel types for their nominated recycling yards through long established relationships.

HSS is an advocate of the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships

Our director's family have been involved in the steel industry in India since the 1950’s through its business activities in the import, export and trading of steel scrap, as well as the establishment of a steel rolling mill.

The family’s business interests developed over the years to encompass a steel trading business and in latter times as the ship recycling industry gained traction in the 1980’s through the development of a sales agency business to market ships for selling to recycling yards. In the late 90's the family established their own vessel recycling yard at Alang, India. In early 2000's the family initiated the set up of a vessel procurement operation to source vessel tonnage for sales to recycling yards.

Our director joined the ship recycling business in 2014 and has been responsible for the management of the dismantling and recycling of vessels. Our director later established HSS Global Trading in Dubai in order to expand activities in the procurement of vessels for sales to recycling yards both on a 'delivered' basis and 'as is where is' basis.

Our director maintains relationships with specific industry related service providers in the fields of ship broking, insurance, legal, banking and the HSS business operation and management growth strategy is supported by experienced industry consultants.
